Analog phones are operated with analog technology. In this technology takes an audio or video or both signals and translates it into electronic pulses. Also known as Plain Old Telephone Service (POTS), these analog lines are supports standard analog phones, fax machines and modems.

1. In analog phones source is the voice or video or both, these voice or video or both signals converted into electronic pulse by using modulator and transmitted through the channel (Telephone lines).
2. By using demodulator to convert the electronic pulse into voice and reach the destination.


3. Telephone central office has switching equipment that can switch calls locally or  to long distance carrier phone offices.
4. Analog phones unwanted noise produced due to the thunderstorms.

Digital phones are operated with digital technology. In this technology audio or video or both signals converted into binary code and transmitted through the channel (Telephone lines).

1. Analog source audio signal converted into digital signals (Binary numbers '0's and '1's) using ADC converter and transmitted through the telephone lines.
2. By using DAC converter to convert Digital signal into analog audio signal and reach the destination.
3. Digital phones voice clarity is good compare to analog phones.
